Denmark to Help Vietnam Improve Children’s Literature

Denmark will continue to help Vietnam improve children’s literature in the period 2011-2015 under an agreement signed between the countries on Nov 18, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said. The project will target children of the 10-14 age group, using television to encourage children read books. Writers and painters of the two sides will operate children’s reading clubs and publish children’s literary works. Launched in 2006, the project is one of cooperative activities between Vietnam and Denmark that aims to encourage writing for children in Vietnam. Between 2006 and 2010, the Danish Writers’ Association helped hold eight seminars for Vietnamese writers and painters who specialize in children literature, publish 20 works and set up 15 readers’ clubs across the country.
