Denmark Grant $11M to Help Vietnam Boost Energy Efficiency

Denmark will grant $11 million to help Vietnam boost the efficient use of energy, which is poor in the Southeast Asian country due to loose management, the Thoi Bao Ngan Hang newspaper reported on Nov 9. Deal for the fund will be signed by officials of the two sides with the attendance of Danish Prime Minister Helle Thorning-Schmidt during her visit to Vietnam on Nov 7-9. The sum will be used to improve energy efficiency in Vietnam’s small- and medium-sized enterprises which account for 95% of the country’s total business. This project is among many deals that Denmark has funded Vietnam so far to help the country cope with climate change. Vietnam and Denmark signed a joint statement on setting up the strategic partnership in climate change, energy, environment and green growth during the visit of Danish Crown Prince Frederik to Vietnam last Nov.
