Denmark to Disburse $35M ODA for Vietnam This Year: Ministry Official

The Danish government plans to disburse nearly $35 million in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in 2014, said Jonas Bering Liisberg, under-secretary for legal affairs, Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Mr. Liisberg made the statement at meeting with Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son in Hanoi to review the bilateral relations and the comprehensive partnership agreement between the two countries. Since 1994, Denmark has granted $1.3 billion to Vietnam, becoming the biggest European provider of grant to Vietnam. Its grant accounted for 25% of total grant by European nations in Vietnam. In 2012, Denmark suspended aid for three climate-change research projects in Vietnam due to reports of fraud.
