CDIA Assists Vietnam Central City in Wastewater Treatment
The Cities Development Initiative for Asia (CDIA) has pledged $400,000 for urban wastewater treatment in Vietnam’s central city of Danang, the Ha Noi Moi newspaper reported Mar 23. The project, which includes $80,000 from Danang authorities, will focus on conducting pre-feasibility study and seek investors. The city is facing a lot of difficulties in wastewater treatment in its local industrial parks of Hoa Khanh, Lien Chieu and Tho Quang as well as the discharge of domestic wastewater into the sea is seriously polluting the environment. Set up by the Asia Development Bank and the German government in 2007, CDIA is aimed to support small-sized Asian cities to carry out project of sustainable environment, urban management and infrastructure development.
