Canada Assists Vietnam in Food Quality Checks

Canada has presented two quick food safety check facilities to Vietnamese agencies in an effort to help the Southeast Asian country better control the quality of agricultural products. The beneficiaries are the Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City Departments of Agriculture and Rural Development.  The presents are part of the Food and Agricultural Products Quality Development and Control Project (FAPQDC), which is being carried out by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) and Ho Chi Minh City Commercial Cooperative Union (Saigon Co.op). As many as 13 cooperatives in provinces have been chosen to take part in the project, which focus on production of vegetables, fruits, pork and chicken. (Kinh Te Vietnam & The Gioi Aug 24 p4)
