BAT-Vinataba Offers Seedlings, Computers for Poor Community
The British American Tobacco-Vinataba Joint Venture (BAT-Vinataba) on Tuesday handed more than 500,000 seedlings, worth over VND330 million, to farmers in the districts of Iapa, Phu Thien and Ayunpa of Gia Lai Province under the company’s afforestation program in 2011. The day earlier, BAT-Vinataba had also donated to the local boarding-school in Iapa 15 sets of computers, 15 sets of tables and chairs and other facilities and equipment with total value of over VND115 million. After Gia Lai, other localities including Tay Ninh, Dong Nai and Cao Bang will receive seedling donations from BAT-Vinataba. BAT-Vinataba’s afforestation program has been running for the past ten years, aiming to respond to the Government’s call for protection of forestry resources. Some 24 million seedlings have been donated to help reforest more than 8,343 hectares. (thesaigontimes.vn Aug 31)
