Australia to Grant 225 Full Scholarships to Vietnam Students This Year
The government of Australia will grant 225 full scholarships to Vietnamese students in the 2011-2012 academic year to help them continue their studies in the country. The scholarships are part of the Aussie government’s efforts to help Vietnam improve its human resources quality, the Tien Phong newspaper reported April 22. Ethnic minority candidates will receive favors in the selection, it added. There are about 25,000 Vietnamese students in Australia, and 16,000 others are pursuing their study at Australian training centers based in Vietnam, statistics from the Australia Agency for International Development showed. Australia is one the countries offering the most scholarships to Vietnamese students. In 2011, the Asia-Australia scholarship program offers 400 of a total 5,000 scholarships to Vietnamese students, the agency said.
