AusAID, WB Fund $150,000 to Five Education Projects in Vietnam

The Australian Agency for International Development (Ausaid) and the World Bank (WB) on April 9 announced that they will fund $150,000 to five education projects in Vietnam, state media reported on Apr 10. The projects worth $30,000 each will focus on improving the capacity of management staffs, teachers and researchers in the sector, the Lao Dong newspaper reported on Apr 10. Other details about the projects, including their implementation schedule, have not been made available at this time.
“Despite the fast expansion and rapid growth in the numbers of universities and colleges, the quality of education cannot meet the social demand and development in the region,” Victoria Kwakwa, WB director said. Worse still, professional skills of management staffs and teachers remain weak, negatively affecting the improvement of the training quality, analysts said. In fact, the education and training sector does not lack money to develop, but it lacks proper solutions for development, they noted. (Lao Dong – Labor April 10 p3)
