AstraZeneca, Bright Future Fund Partner to Enhance Cancer Care in Vietnam
AstraZeneca Vietnam and the Cancer Patient Support Fund (Bright Future Fund) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve comprehensive healthcare for cancer patients and promote healthcare equity in Vietnam.
This partnership aims to reduce cancer's impact as a leading cause of death in the country by enhancing patient care, increasing access to early screening, and improving treatment quality. The collaboration will focus on providing financial support, boosting treatment adherence, and raising awareness about early lung cancer detection.
The initiative will also establish networks for innovation and advanced technology in healthcare and create cancer patient support clubs in hospital oncology departments.
According to GLOBOCAN 2022, Vietnam reported about 180,480 new cancer cases and 120,184 cancer deaths. The most common cancers are breast, liver, and lung, with over 70% of patients diagnosed at late stages, leading to lower survival rates compared to developed countries.
