Argentina to Assist Vietnam in Agricultural Biotechnology Development

Argentina is willing to assist Vietnam in developing biotechnology in crop cultivation and livestock farming, said Argentine Secretary of National Integration of the Chief of Staff Maria del Alarcon at a meeting with leaders of Vietnam’s Ministry of Science and Technology.The South American country is ready to train Vietnamese scientists in biotechnology in agriculture, especially in hybridizing cow, pig, goat and lamb, Ms. Maria said, adding the breeding technology will help the livestock farming increase meat yield and quality.Argentina can also assist Vietnam in building research centers and laboratories in biotechnology, she noted.In turn, Vietnamese Minister of Science and Technology Nghiem Vu Khai proposed Argentina help Vietnam build research centers and laboratories in biotechnology in Hoa Lac Hi-tech Park.Vietnam welcomes Argentina’s enterprises to boost their investment in Vietnam in the field, he added.Currently, Vietnam imports several farm produce from Argentina, including soybean, animal feed and cooking oils.
