Agricultural Insurance Participants Are 88% Households in Poverty

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development, the pilot program of agricultural insurance has been deployed in 20 provinces and cities, with more than 106,760 households registering for the insurance policy, among them 88% are poor households. Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development said that with 88% poor households joining the insurance program, the value of crops and animals insured reaches VND1,027 billion, and insurance premiums are VND53.9 billion. Insurance for rice takes the lead, with over 93,945 households. According to Decision 315/Q?-TTg of the Prime Minister, beneficiaries of agricultural insurance which are poor households will enjoy 100% insurance payments, 80% for households near the poverty line, and 20% for voluntary households.
