Activities to Help Needy Students And Workers in Central Vietnam

The Da Nang Youth Union and the City Students’ Association will present 1,500 free tickets, worth VND300million in total, to needy students at universities and colleges in the City, according to Nguyen Hoai Nam, Deputy-Secretary of the Da Nang Youth Union, on January 2nd. The tickets will be given to needy students with good academic records and active participations in youth activities and to students in remote areas and in flood-hit regions, to help them enjoy a warm Lunar New Year Festival with their family. Also on the occasion, the Da Nang Youth Union will present 2,000 Chung cakes to needy households, students and garbage collectors, who are unable to return home for the Tet holiday. In Ho Chi Minh City, over 7,000 pupils, students and overseas Vietnamese will participate in the “Voluntary Spring 2012” campaign, to take place from January 5th to 22nd. The campaign will hold meaningful activities to help needy students and households in hostels and needy communes in the City. A ceremony to launch the campaign is scheduled to take place at the Ho Chi Minh City’s Youth Cultural House on January 5th. (Sai Gon Giai Phong –Saigon Liberation Jan 3)
