85,000 Social Houses Built Or Repaired for Poor People in 2010

A conference reviewing the campaign ‘Day for the Poor’ 2010 was held in Hanoi on March 16 attended by Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Chairman, Huynh Dam. Over the past year, VND 6,574 billion was raised for the poor by organisations, enterprises and individuals at home and abroad. With the assistance of the entire community, 85,000 social houses were built or repaired, providing shelter for poor people. Over VND 1,000 billion was mobilised to present gifts to more than 4.4 million policy beneficiary families, children with difficulties and AO during the Tet (Lunar New Year) holidays.
In 2011, the Fatherland Front at all levels in collaboration with good hearted individuals and collectives continue their support to the campaign, contributing to ensuring social security and effectively implementing the Government’s Resolution on reducing poverty in poor districts and communes. They also pay attention to building new social houses to improve the residents’ living conditions. (nhandan.org.vn Mar 18)
