5,000 Vietnamese to Join “Clean Up The World” Campaign in September
As many as 5,000 Vietnamese people will take part in “Clean Up the World” campaign 2011 to be launched in Ho Chi Minh City on Sept 17. The information was released at a press briefing by the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment and Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee Aug 29. This year’s campaign, themed “Our Place... Our Planet... Our Responsibility” with a series of activities, will include seminars and dredge of canals and rivers. The participants will carry out practical activities like reducing the use of nylon bags and littering wastes in their residential areas, in a move to protect their health and degrading environment, Deputy Head of the Vietnam Environment Administration Le Ke Son said. Launched in 1993, the first campaign has inspired an estimated 35 million volunteers in 130 nations worldwide each year to take responding actions.
