5,000 Poor People Receive Free Medical Care

More than 5,000 disadvantaged people in Dak Nong province, including the poor, ethnic minorities, Agent Orange victims and people with disabilities received free medical checks and medicine from May 19-21. Free health checks and medications were available to residents in Quang Tin and Dak Ru communes in Dak R'lap district, Quang Truc and Dak Buc communes in Tuy Duc district and Nghia Thanh and Nghia Tan wards in Gia Nghia town. The doctors also provided counseling on preventing and treating common diseases in the Central Highlands. In addition, the organizations involved presented 15 wheelchairs to people with disabilities and Agent Orange victims, as well as distributing 1,500 books and 100 bags to disadvantaged children. The free medical care was sponsored by Duoc Vuong charity clinic from Ho Chi Minh City, the Dak Nong provincial 18-4 Co-operative and the Young Physicians’ Association. (www.nhandan.org.vn May 23)
