5,000 People Walk for Poor in Ho Chi Minh City

Five thousand senior citizens, veterans, workers, students, and children joined the fifth “United for the Poor” walk to raise money for Ho Chi Minh City’s Fund for the Poor last Sunday in Binh Tan District.
They started on Vanh Dai Trong Street through 17A, Ten Lua, and No.7 Streets and returned to the original point. The walk, organized by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee, raised more than VND1 billion ($48,000). On the occasion, the Fund for the Poor gifted VND300 million ($14,300) to six poor people to build houses and VND275 million ($13,100) to other poor families. Gifts were also given to poor households in Cu Chi and Binh Tan Districts. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee also gave 25 Nguyen Huu Tho scholarships each worth VND1.2-1.5 million to children at Thu Duc District’s Tam Binh orphanage.
