500 Poor People Provided Free Health Checks

Over 500 people of the three villages with special economic difficulty in Tam Chung commune, Muong Lat district, Thanh Hoa province have received free medical checkups and medicines provided by Defense Economic Corps 5 of Military Zone 4. Recently, Defense Economic Corps 5 sent a working team of doctors, nurses and political cadres to Tam Chung. In the commune, the working team organized various activities, such as mobile movie shows and cultural exchanges and art performances to serve local people, and provided free medical checks, medicines and health advice for beneficiaries. In addition, the unit’s political cadres delivered leaflets on reproductive health care to local families and presented school bags to poor pupils. The team also cooperated with the local Party Committee, authorities and mass organizations in disseminating to the community information about ethnic and religious affairs; drug abuse and HIV/AIDS prevention; family planning policy; sanitary practices; environmental protection; and tillage techniques, rice cultivation and husbandry.
