14 Workers of Thai Firm Suspected of Food Poisoning in South Vietnam

As many as 14 female workers of Thailand’s Alliance One Apparel Company, located in Vietnam’s southern province of Ben Tre, have been hospitalized for being suspected of food poisoning. The workers reportedly suffered symptoms of stomachache, vomiting and diarrhea after eating soya curd and meat at the company’s canteen, the Nhan Dan newspaper reported Nov 17. Trung Phat Company is the meal supplier of the Thai firm’s employees. Local health taskforces took food samples for testing to find the cause. Late April, up to 168 workers of the firm also suffered from food poisoning after having meal with noodle here. This is the third time the firm’s workers have got food poisoning since early 2008.  The company, specialized in sportswear products of trademarks like Adidas, Nike and Puma for exports, now has 2,200 employees.
