WCS Program Intern (full-time)
Job title: Program Intern (full-time)
Start date: March 2013
Main duty station: Hanoi
Organization background:
The trade in wildlife products in Asia in the form of meat, pets, trophies, and medicine is escalating at an alarming rate. This unprecedented boom is due to a combination of factors, including habitat loss; road-building that links forests to markets; a growing human population; growing urban wealth; and commercial trade across the region that is increasingly well organized, though often illegal.
WCS is addressing this issue through scientific assessments and working closely with partners in applying practical solutions on the ground. Through in-depth knowledge and sensitivity to complex issues, we propose solutions that address the symptoms and underlying causes of the intense increase in hunting and wildlife trade while also supporting the livelihoods of rural communities. See more about the issues and our work on our facebook page (www.facebook.com/wcs.vietnam)
Main responsibilities of the required post:
• Support to development of online and offline training materials and enforcement support resources for law enforcement officers.
• Assist in other technical and logistical work related to the implementation of WCS program activities (e.g. investigations, workshops, and meetings)
• Written translation of documents in English and Vietnamese
• Support to other office work as required by WCS
Desired qualifications:
This position is for a Vietnamese student who have just graduated or going to graduate with:
• An interest in pursuing a career in wildlife conservation
• Good English and Vietnamese language skills
• Good computer skills
