VIETNAM COOPERATIVE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT
TERM OF REFERENCE
TRAINER ON PRE-HARVESTING TECHNIQUES
SOCODEVI, the Société de coopération pour le développement international, is a network of cooperatives and mutuals that share technical expertise and know-how with partners in developing countries in order to create, protect and distribute wealth. SOCODEVI is a Canadian not-for-profit corporation for international development established in Vietnam since 2002.
The Vietnam Cooperative Development Project (VCED) is a newly Project managed by SOCODEVI and financed by the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development (DFATD) of Canada. Project duration is of5 years ending on March 2020.
The Vietnam Cooperative Enterprise Development (VCED) project is working on 4 commodities in 5 provinces: pomelo in Ben Tre, table grape in Ninh Thuan, dragon fruit in Binh Thuan, dairy milk in Soc Trang and Lam Dong. Agronomy component means to assist farmers to do sustainable production while increase yield and product’s quality responding to market requirements.
CONSULTANT REQUIREMENT
VCED project is seeking for local consultants to train Coop’s personnel and members on pre-harvest techniques with following contents and outputs.
Training contents
All these contents should be tailored accordingly to practical production scales and available resources of the Coops:
- Fertilizer applications 2-3 months before harvesting:
- Improve the juicy, sweetness, sweetness of pomelo fruits
- Amount and type of fertilizer recommendations
- Quick check of nitrate residue
- Safety uses of pesticides before harvesting:
- Remind list of Permitted plant protection drug groups for major pests and diseases on pomelo
- Recommend pre-harvest pesticide list
- Advice on pesticide quarantine periods
- Quick check of pesticide residues
Expected outputs: cover all requirements mentioned in above section
- Training materials: full Word documents, PPT presentations
- Training report
Time and location
Time: within December 2017 with a total number of working day not exceeding 8 days. These days including revising training materials (5 days) + conducting training (2 days) + writing report (1 day).
Location: in Ben Tre province
Required qualifications and experiences
The consultants should meet the following requirements:
- Profound knowledge on pre-harvesting techniques
- Experience in pre-harvesting activities in pomelo productions
- Experience in working with agricultural coops
- Experience in conducting trainings for farmers and local stakeholders
