Trainer

Background

Malteser International is the worldwide relief agency of the Sovereign Order of Malta for humanitarian aid with the status of a non-governmental organization. The relief service has more than 50 years of experience in humanitarian relief and currently covers around 100 projects in about 20 countries in Africa, Asia and the Americas.  The organization’s  core expertise is  in field of health, water and sanitation and disaster risk reduction (DRR)
Through out the Asia region, Malteser International is implementing community based disaster risk reduction programmes and is embarking currently on the integration of Climate Change Adaption (CCA) in said initiative.  Hence, the organization is seeking for:
Resource person who will design and deliver training course on the integration of CCA into DRR program
Duration  of the consultancy  : 6 days (including course preparation, actual delivery of the training and submission of the report)
Location: Hoi An, Vietnam

Main responsibilities

The trainer in coordination with the Regional Adviser on DRR will:
- Collect, review and compile available resources and IEC materials related to CCA/DRR integration (1 day)
- Design a training curriculum on CCA/DRR integration and submit said curriculum for approval  (1 day)
- Prepare power points / handouts and conduct of the actual training  using participatory teaching methodologies  and evaluation approaches (3 days)
- Produce a final report (1 day)

Key outputs

- Approved training curriculum and learning evaluation tools
- Satisfactory delivery of the training course on CCA/DRR integration
- Electronic and hard copies of power points/handouts
- Approved final report

Timeframe

- Actual training  to be conducted on April 15 to April 17, 2013 in Hoi An, Vietnam
- Resources allocated
- Consultancy fee for the resource person
- Project documents
- Logistics support ( i.e. airfare, accommodation, meals and reproduction of handouts/powerpoints)

Education and Experience

- Considerable experience in implementing  CCA / DRR integrated programming
- Strong English and proven experience in the delivery of training preferably to I/NGO staff as participants
- Experience in curriculum development, especially in the field of CCA / DRR and experience in facilitation of disaster management courses, preferably to INGO staff.
- Excellent communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills
