iSEE is a non-profit organization working for the rights of all people, including minority groups. iSEE aims to promote the values of freedom, equality, and tolenrance in Vietnamese society.

 

Working predominantly in Hanoi and in a friendly and diverse environment, the Senior Researcher will conduct important research projects of iSEE, propose new research pathways, disseminate research findings and connect the field of academia to development.

 

Major responsibility: (More details in the Job Description)

  • Implement and lead iSEE research projects

  • Propose new strategies, topics and methodology for research projects; develop specific research projects

  • Build and maintain connection with researchers, domestic and international research institutions to further develop research capacity of iSEE

Key requirements: (More details in the Job Description)

  • Master’s degree or higher in research, preferably in the field of anthropology, sociology, law, political science and other social sciences.

  • Expert knowledge and skills in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology

  • Commitment to iSEE values, principles and practices in cultural diversity, sexual diversity, human rights based approach;

  • Excellent communication and writing skills in Vietnamese and English

Job title

Senior Researcher

(Base in Hanoi)

Objective

Ensure the quality of iSEE research projects; ensure that the strategy of research team reflects the approach, priority and values of iSEE, creating a foundation for iSEE social development programs.

Monitor and report to supervisor

  • Program Manager and Director

Expected results and responsibility

Program management and implementation

  • Work as a lead researcher to implement important research projects, and monitor the quality of other studies within the research portfolio

  • Prepare and publish research reports in conferences, to the press and partners

  • Connect with researchers, domestic and international research institutions to further develop the research capacity of iSEE

  • Support the development of the information, data and resource systems related to research and key fields of interest of iSEE



Strategy building and fund-raising

  • Propose new pathways, topics, and methodology for research projects

  • Develop specific research projects

  • Participate in developing iSEE’s intervention programs based on evidence and findings of the research



Others

  • Participate and support consultation activities that are suitable with the expertise

  • Participate in training and capacity building in research for internal and external staffs

Key knowledge, skills and qualities

Required knowledge and skills

  • Master’s degree or higher in research, preferably in the field of anthropology, sociology, law, political science and other social sciences.

  • Have at least 3 to 5 years of experience doing social research

  • Expert knowledge and skills in qualitative and/or quantitative research methodology

  • Have basic knowledge and strong interest in development issues

  • Commitment to iSEE values, principles and practices in cultural diversity, sexual diversity, human rights based approach

  • Ability to work independently, take responsibility and complete work within deadlines

  • Excellent communication and writing skills in Vietnamese and English

Encouraged knowledge and skills

  • Experience working in development field or a research institution

  • Have published research articles/reports

  • Experience in management and team-work

Contract

  • Labor contract as prescribed by Vietnam regulations

  • Entitle to health, training, and insurance based on iSEE’s human resources policies

  • Negotiable salary depending on personal experience and capacity
