Starting Salary is £23,090 net per annum (Oxfam can offer more to very experienced and skilled candidates)
fixed-term contract, 2 years
Freetown, Sierra Leone
Their focus on bringing change to Sierra Leone is making a huge difference here. Already we’re working with other NGOs, local communities and the government on everything from water sanitation projects to rice-growing programmes and craft enterprises for women.
About the role:
It’s work that you’ll develop and expand. Collaborating with the Country Director, you’ll chart the strategy for the Sierra Leone country programme. It means leading and inspiring a dedicated team while developing a wide range of groundbreaking proposals that attract buy-in from existing and prospective donors. And as well as strategic direction, you’ll deliver practical support to local partners in the form of capacity building plans. What’s more, you’ll keep a firm control of finances and act as an influential member of our Senior Management team.
About you:
Already in a similar role with another NGO, you’ll have good experience of emergency and development work and an in-depth understanding of relevant humanitarian and policy issues. It’s a background that will have given you a strong record of effective programme and people management plus the proven ability to produce quality reports and proposals for a variety of donors. A skilled negotiator who can build effective relationships with key contacts – including donors – you’ll also be sensitive to cultural differences and be able to work well in a variety of cultural contexts.
