FIELD RESEARCHER
Position title: Field Researcher
Working place: Save Vietnam’s Wildlife, Cuc Phuong National Park
Reporting to: Field Manager
Introduction of Save Vietnam’s Wildlife:
Save Vietnam’s Wildlife is a national non-profit that is dedicated to preventing the extinction and championing the recovery of Vietnam’s threatened wildlife.
Introduction to the recruitment job:
SVW is seeking an enthusiastic early-career conservationist to join our field team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work in conservation in Vietnam. The successful candidate will gain research skills, practical experience in surveying rare mammals, knowledge of the conservation challenges facing pangolins and small carnivores in Vietnam, and work experience in a conservation organization. Training will be given; the successful candidate will work with SVW’s research team, which includes an international technical adviser.
Duration:Full-time employment
Expected starting date:As soon as possible
Salary: Competitive salary (based on experience)
Responsibilities of Field Researcher:
- Monitoring post-release pangolins using advanced technologies
- Camera-trapping for rare mammals
- Supporting data analysis of monitoring and camera-trapping data
- Writing scientific reports and publications (if any)
- Liaising with government partners, donors and other relevant authorities
- Supporting anti-poaching team in using SMART conservation software
Requirements:
- Vietnamese national
- Working proficiency in English, both written and spoken
- A Bachelor degree in Biology, Environmental Science, Natural Resource Management or similar
- Proven interest in wildlife conservation
- Able to live and work in isolated and challenging conditions
- Patient and positive attitude
- Good organizational and reporting skills
- Any data analysis or field survey experiences will be a bonus
