Consultant for Gender Mainstreaming Training
Introduction
Orbis is a leading NGO that has been a pioneer in the prevention and treatment of blindness for almost all 40 years. Orbis transforms lives by delivering the skills, resources and knowledge needed to provide accessible quality eye care. In Vietnam, Orbis has been providing the highest level of expertise to support the development of eye care services and blindness prevention– especially in the areas of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP), pediatric and Diabetic Retinopathy services and in establishing an eye bank. Since 2015, Orbis has worked to strengthen the eye health system in the country, focusing on the quality of services and human resources.
Orbis is currently in the process of implementing our new 5-year global strategic plan 2022 - 2026 with overall impact of increasing equitable access to eye health services and improving the quality of life of the communities we work with, in which gender is one of the performance areas that Orbis is aiming at. In order to effectively implement this, Orbis has worked with international specialists to develop a Gender training manual and is seeking a gender consultant in Vietnam to adapt the manual to the local context and use this manual to conduct gender mainstreaming training for Orbis and our partners.
Purpose
To adapt the Gender training manual to the local context and provide facilitation services for gender mainstreaming training for Orbis staff and partners using participatory methods.
Scope of Work
The consultant will work closely with Orbis Vietnam focal point to deliver services as following details:
- Review and adapt gender training materials to suit the local context (including training agenda, contents, pre-post assessments…)
- Develop training plan
- Provide a two-day training on gender mainstreaming to Orbis staff and partners
- Write the summary report of the training
Required Qualifications, Skills
- Master’s degree in a pertinent field (for example: medicine, public health, public policy or another related field)
- At least ten-year experience in the field of health-related policy development, understand the policy approval process
- Significant facilitation skills for technical meeting, workshop và policy development and approval process/
- Experience in coordination with hospital administrators, Gov agency leaders and local healthcare providers
- Experience or knowledge of the health care, especially eye health sector would be advantage
- Ability to work in team spirit and have good communication skills
- Excellent English communication skills, both oral and written would be an advantage
