Company/Organization to Provide Parenting Skill Training for Vulnerable Women
1. Introduction
MCNV is a Dutch NGO working with Vietnam since 1968. In 2004, MCNV started a program that focused on providing comprehensive care and support for women living with HIV/AIDS and their children.
By the end of 2012, the program supported more than 2000 women and 1000 children infected and affected by HIV in seven provinces in the North of Vietnam (Hanoi, Quang Ninh, Thai Nguyen, Ha Giang, Yen Bai, Dien Bien and Cao Bang) to receive health care as well as livelihood, socio?psychological, and legal support.
The program helped to empower the women by establishing a network of self?help groups called the Sunflowers, where women living with HIV can gather and share their experiences in living with HIV, and learn more about prevention and care. Through these developments, the children should also receive better care from parents and families.
On the request of these women, and to provide further support for the women and children affected by HIV/AIDS, MCNV plans to provide training workshops on parenting for mothers in the Sunflower groups.
