Background

VVOB is a non-profit organization with over 35 years of experience in improving the quality of education systems from a rights-based perspective. VVOB has currently long-term partnerships with education actors in 9 countries in the South (Cambodia, DR Congo, Ecuador, Rwanda, South Africa, Suriname, Vietnam, Zambia and Uganda) and in Belgium/Flanders. Its annual budget is around 13 million euros.

In Vietnam, VVOB is currently implementing the following programmes/projects:

The prolonged and complicated COVID-19 pandemic has not only caused a health crisis but also had a great socio-economic impact, including on people's livelihoods, production and business. In particular, this pandemic has had a heavy impact on mental health and living conditions of children and young people. It has increased the likelihood that children of legal working age or younger drop out of school to enter the labour market to earn extra income for their families, increasing the risk the risk of child labour. According to a report by the International Labour Organization (ILO), the pandemic has increased the number of child laborers worldwide by 160 million – an increase of 8.4 million children in just four years.
