Mission Statement

MAG is a humanitarian non-government organization clearing explosive remnants of war in current and former conflict zones. Established in the UK in 1989, its work has helped millions of people of conflict-affected communities in 68 countries around the world, giving them greater safety and opportunities to rebuild their lives, livelihoods and futures. MAG co-shared the Nobel Peace Prize for its contribution to the International Campaign to Ban Landmines which culminated in the signing of the Mine Ban Treaty in 1997.

History of operations in Vietnam

In Vietnam, MAG started operations in Quang Tri province in 1999 and in Quang Binh province in 2003 and continues to operate in these two provinces. During 2002-2005, MAG Vietnam also conducted operations in Thua Thien-Hue Province in support of Australian Volunteers International (AVI) project. In October 2005 the MAG representative office in Hanoi was established. During 2012-2014, MAG also completed a project in Quang Nam province. Currently, MAG is one of the largest civilian mine action organizations in Vietnam. As a demining NGO, MAG has been honored to receive many awards for its significant contribution to the sustainable development of Vietnam.
