History of operations in Vietnam
The Institute of International Education-Vietnam is a branch of the Institute of International Education (IIE), an independent non-profit organization headquatered in New York. Founded in 1919, the Institute of International Education (IIE) is a private nonprofit leader in the international exchange of people and ideas. It is one of the world’s largest and the most experienced international education and training organization. In collaboration with governments, foundations, and other sponsors, IIE creates programs of study and training for students, educators, and professionals from all sectors. Each year, over 24,000 men and women from 175 countries receive scholarships and professional training through IIE’s programs, assisted by more than 630 staff at 30 offices and representatives around the globe. IIEVietnam promotes and/or manages the scholarship programs such as the GE Foundation Scholar-Leaders Program, New York University Abu Dhabi. The Institute also organizes annual U.S. Higher Education Fairs in Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City and Danang, as well as other fairs. Finally, IIE-Vietnam offers a variety of services to U.S. colleges and universities that want to establish a presence in Vietnam and to Vietnamese institutions that want to reach out to their U.S. counterparts. IIE has been active in Vietnam since 1997.
