WB to Fund $65M for Healthcare Project in Central Vietnam
The World Bank has pledged to fund $65 million for a project to improve the quality of medical checkups and treatment and preventive medicine in Vietnam’s central region from now to 2016. The project, totaling $75 million, will benefit locals in the six provinces of Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri and Thua Thien-Hue, the Bao Hiem Xa Hoi newspaper reported Aug 3. The project will also provide health insurance for near-poor people in those provinces at a cost of more than $9 million. WB pledged $2.498 billion in ODA for Vietnam this year and also announced to finance over $6 billion for the Southeast Asian country to implement 44 programs and projects in the 2011-2013 fiscal years.
