Vietnam-U.K. Int’l Public University to Be Set Up in Danang City

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan and Peter Mandelson, U.K. Secretary of State for Business has signed a joint declaration on establishment of Vietnam-U.K. International Public University in the central city of Danang. During Nhan’s trip from Mar 9-11, Vietnam and the U.K. officials will focus on the implementation of agreements reached during Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s visit in Mar 2008, the Vietnamese Government said on its website Wednesday. The U.K. will continue to grant official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam and support the national education reform in the 2011-2015, Peter Mandelson affirmed. Two-way trade between Vietnam and the U.K. hit $1.7 billion last year and is expected to increase to $2 billion this year. Vietnam has around 6,000 students studying at universities in the U.K.
