Vietnam to Spend $243M to Upgrade Schools This Year
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a plan to allocate VND4.5 trillion ($243 million) from g-bonds this year to continue a project to upgrade schools and communal houses for teachers in the 2008-2012 period. The announcement was made by Deputy Minister and Minister of Education and Training Nguyen Thien Nhan at an online conference on Mar 8, the online VietnamNet newspaper reported Mar 9. The Ministry of Education and Training has ordered provincial and municipal people’s committees to quickly allocate enough capital for projects that have had their investment procedures completed. After two years of carrying out the project, 62,063 classrooms and 11,953 communal rooms had been built and upgraded.
