Vietnam Reports 26,300 Hungry Families in July

Vietnam reported a total of 26,300 families with 122,300 people suffering from hunger in July, down 13.5% and 12.3% on year, respectively, the General Statistics Office said. The government and organizations have provided 23,800 tons of food and VND11.8 billion for the needy people since early this year, including 1,800 tons of food and VND2.6 billion in July.  Vietnam reported 676,500 families with more than 2.9 million people in hunger last year, falling 29.4% and 26.2% from 2008, respectively.
