Vietnam Reports 236,000 Hungry Families in Q1
Provinces and cities across Vietnam reported a total of 236,000 families with 934,000 people suffering from hunger in the first quarter of this year, 34,000 families higher than 2009, the General Statistics Office (GSO) said. Those suffering from hunger were mainly found in provinces in the midland and northern mountainous region, in the northern central and coastal central region and in the central highlands region, the office noted. The Vietnamese government and international organizations have granted 12,500 tons of food and VND4.6 billion ($240,800) to them so far this year.
