Vietnam Provinces Care for Lives of Remote Residents

Vietnam’s central highlands province of Dak Lak has eliminated all inadequate housing for ethnic minority families so far.  In a program to support poor ethnic minority families’ housing alone, districts, towns and cities of the province have allocated from the budget to support VND4-5 million to each family. Ea Kar and Krong Bong districts have provided VND8-10 million for each family to build new houses.  So far, Dak Lak has built and repaired 15,535 houses while providing hundreds of billions of VND for ethnic minority families to build over 8,000 houses. Meanwhile, the northern province of Bac Kan is upgrading districts across the province to create favorable conditions for the poor and those in remote and mountainous areas to have access to high quality medical services. So far the Na Ri district general hospital with VND59 billion and 100 sick-beds, the Cho Don 70 sick-bed hospital with VND74 billion, the Ba Be 54 sick-bed general hospital with VND34 billion have been put into operation. Together with the upgrade of district hospitals, Bac Kan province is carrying out the building of a 500 sick-bed general hospital. The construction is being built with capital of over VND1 trillion.
