Vietnam Province Spends $36.9M to Provide Edu Chance for Poor Students

Vietnam’s central province of Quang Binh has invested VND720 million ($36.9 million) in a program to provide an education chance for local poor students who are vulnerable to dropouts. This is the second year the locality has implemented the program, the Vietnamese Government said on its website Sept 15, citing director of Quang Binh provincial Department of Education and Training, Nguyen Ke Than.
The sum of money is used to support books, learning aids and clothes for these students. The provincial Department of Education and Training has asked local agencies to coordinate with social policy banks to create conditions for these students to get loans for their study. (www.chinhphu.vn Sept 15)
