Vietnam Province Oks Construction of $34.4M Water Supply System

Authorities of Vietnam’s southern province of Binh Phuoc have approved a construction project of clean water supply system worth VND657 billion ($34.4 million) to serve the daily life and agriculture production, the state-run Vietnam News Agency said July 29. The system with a capacity of 432,000 cubic meters a day will benefit more than 256,000 locals and 2,010 hectares of farmland in Chon Thanh and Hon Quan districts. The project is scheduled for implementation between 2011 and 2015, the agency added. The government has approved the national target program on rural clean water supply and environmental sanitation for the period of 2011-2015, with total investment of more than VND54 trillion. Vietnam aims to supply clean water to 85% of its total population by the year-end.
