Vietnam Province to Build $18.38M Waste Treatment Plant in April

Vietnam’s southern province of Ca Mau authorities have approved a plan to build a VND351 billion ($18.38 million) waste treatment plant in Ca Mau City in early April. Covering on a site of 25 hectares in Tan Xuyen ward, the plant will have a daily treatment capacity of 200 tons of waste, the Tuoi Tre newspaper reported Mar. 26. Once operational in late 2011, the facility will convert waste into microorganism fertilizers and plastic beads. Vietnam will spend VND44 trillion ($2.38 billion) on a project to treat solid waste in urban areas from now up to 2015, the Ministry of Construction said.
