Vietnam PM Approves WB-funded $30M Water Management Project
Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has approved a project of water resources management in Mekong Delta region worth $30 million funded by the World Bank (WB). Of the sum, $25 million came from the WB’s International Development Association (IDA) and the rest from the Vietnamese side’s reciprocal capital, the government said on its website Oct 21. The project will be piloted at the Dong Nai River basin, the government added, giving no details of the project. The global bank pledged $2.498 billion in official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam this year and also announced to finance over $6 billion for the country to implement 44 programs and projects in the 2011-2013 fiscal years.
