Vietnam to Open $500M Ethnic Cultural Village Complex

Vietnam will open $500 million cultural village complex to mark the 1,000-year Thang Long-Hanoi festival which is scheduled to open in Oct, state media reported Feb. 24. The complex which will cover an area of 1,544 hectares in Son Tay town of Hanoi is expected to operate 34 out of 54 ethnic villages, said Ho Anh Tuan, head of the Management Board of the Vietnam Ethnic Cultural and Tourism Village.
The village is aimed to showcase the most typical characteristics of each ethnic minorities in Vietnam, Tuan added. The project was approved in Jan 2006 to call for investments from different sources including local organizations, FDI, joint venture, ODA, BOT, BTO and BT to make it the biggest cultural tourism project attracting large number of visitors.
