Vietnam Ministry OKs VND98.8B Education Project by 2020

The Vietnamese Ministry of Education and Training has approved a VND98.8 billion ($5.1 million) project to develop education quality verification system in 2011-2020 period, the Phap luat Tp HCM newspaper reported Sept 27. Under the project, Vietnam plans set up state-owned education quality verification institutes in 2011-2015 period and it will allow individual and organizations to form their education auditing ones next period. The country aims to operate at least three state-owned education quality verification institutes by end-2012, aiming to audit educational quality at universities and vocational schools. The Southeast Asian nation planned to spend VND104.775 trillion ($5.37 billion) from the state budget on education and training this year compared with VND94.635 trillion in 2009.
