Vietnam Mekong Delta Province Asks Govt VND30.8B for Drought Fight
Vietnam’s Mekong Delta province of Tien Giang has asked the government to allocate VND30.8 billion to protect winter-spring rice crop against droughts, the state media reported. Droughts are threatening over 8,000 hectares out of 29,000 hectares of rice in Go Cong Tay, Go Cong Dong, Tan Phu Dong and Go Cong districts, eliminating local crops, the Tien phong newspaper reported. The province allocated VND2.2 million to support local farmers to pump water into rice fields; however, the situation is still bad when dry and hot weather is continuing.
