Vietnam to Host 46th Int’l Chemistry Olympiad in 2014
Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung has given the nod to the organization of the 46th International Chemistry Olympiad (ICO) in 2014. The PM assigned the Ministry of Education and Training to work with the Vietnam Chemistry Association and government agencies and localities to devise an implementation scheme, the Tin Tuc newspaper reported Nov 24. Held annually since 1968, the ICO is one of five contests - Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Information Technology – for international secondary students to show off their intellectual talents and consolidate international relationships. Vietnam has taken part in the ICO since 1997. In 2009, four Vietnamese students took one gold, two silvers and one bronze prize at the 41st ICO in the U.K.
