Vietnam Holds Conference to Conserve Elephants

Vietnam’s southern province of Dong Nai Forest Ranger Department and national parks in the southern region co-held a seminar at Cat Tien National Park on Nov. 26 to seek ways to improve public awareness of elephant population protection. Local and foreign scientists agreed that it is necessary to implement the project to preserve elephants, which was approved by the Prime Minister in 2006, the Vietnam News Agency said Friday. The population of elephants in Vietnam has been halved to 80 from 2004.
