Vietnam HCM City Plans to Build $320M Wastewater Treatment Plant

Ho Chi Minh City plans to build a wastewater treatment plant worth $320 million in District 2, the Lao dong newspaper reported. The 35-hectare plant is expected to have a daily treatment capacity of 800,000 cu.m of wastewater, the newspaper added, giving no detail of timetable for the construction.  The municipal authorities held a conference on May 27 to collect ideas to conduct a feasibility study for the project, which aims to reduce environmental pollution in the city. HCM City discharges more than 1.2 million cu.m of untreated domestic wastewater into canals a day.
