Vietnam HCM City Launches Soft Skill Training Program for Students
Vietnam’s southern metropolis of Ho Chi Minh City has launched a soft skill training program for pupils and students of 80 schools, colleges and universities citywide, state media reported. The three-month program which began early Sept will provide the beneficiaries with lessons and activities aimed at promoting their communication and thinking skills. The program is also expected to help pupils and students become more self-confident to deal with challenges, an official said Khuat Thu Hong, head of Institute for Social Development Studies (ISDS). Hong attributed that the program somewhat prevents them from depression and social evils as well. She said Vietnamese students who lack skills to cope with difficulties and unexpected issues need more cares from family, community and social organizations which will give them timely supports. Providing soft skills is, to some extent, the most effective method to help them overcome challenges, he added. Vietnam has launched some soft-skill training courses for students and teenagers for recent years with support from non-profit social organizations.
