Vietnam Government Proposed to Allocate VND282B to Deal with Drought
The Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development has proposed the Government of Vietnam to allocate VND282.7 billion to deal with drought in the Red River Delta, northern mountainous and Mekong Delta provinces, the Nong Nghiep Viet Nam newspaper reported Jan. 14.
The MARD said that the funding will be delivered to provinces to take measures against drought such as crops shift and water dredging.
Of the sum, central Thanh Hoa province will receive VND16.3 billion; Nghe An province, VND15.5 billion; Bac Ninh, VND14.5 billion and Ninh Binh, VND15 billion. Drought has affected 80,000 hectares of winter-spring paddy in northern region, of which 50,000 hectares will be turned into other crops.
