Vietnam, Germany Hold Conference on Urban Water Management

Germany’s Academy of Managers for Construction and Cities (AMC) and Dresden Sewerage and Drainage Company have joined an international conference on urban water management in Vietnam’s central province of Khanh Hoa. The event focused on the efficient use of water sources, the management of rain-water and underground water in urban areas as well as upgrading drainage systems, the province said on its website Oct 27. Also at the event, the participants provided basic information on policies, technology solutions and management skills for the fields of drainage and water supply. This is good chance to introduce Germany-applied modern technologies that are expected to be applied in Vietnam, the province added. Surface water sources are being polluted seriously due to wastewater from companies and mining industry, especially in cities, industrial parks, craft villages and rural areas. Vietnam’s water resources are limited and getting more degraded if strong measures are not timely adopted as two third of Vietnam’s water volume come from foreign countries, experts said.
