Vietnam City Raises $131,600 to Help AO/Dioxin Victims
The Vietnam’s central city of Danang has raised more than VND2.5 billion ($131,600) from a charitable program to help AO/dioxin victims, the Hanoi Noi online newspaper reported June 4. The program named “Joining Hands for AO Pain”, was jointly held by the city’s Association of Victims of Agent Orange worked with the municipal Department of Education and Training, and the city’s Radio and Television June 3. The money will be spent on building a care center for AO victims and disadvantaged children in Hoa Nhon commune, the association’s head Nguyen Thi Hien said. Danang now has more than 5,000 AO victims, including 1,400 children.
