Vietnam Central Province Opens $2M S.Korea-funded Peace Village

Vietnam’s central province of Quang Nam put into operation on Nov. 3 a $2-million peace village with the funding from the Korean Victims of Agent Orange Veterans Association (KAOVA), state media reported. The village which covers 2.6 hectares in Phu Ninh district will provide accommodations for about 100 veterans who are underprivileged and lonely in Quang Nam province. The facility will also give convalesce and treatment services to veterans and soldiers’ children who are affected by Agent Orange/Dioxin in Quang Nam and the surroundings. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Head of Korean War Veterans Association (KWVA) Ryu Ji Jeol said that the village is a symbol of peace and reconciliation, helping boost the friendship between Vietnam and South Korea.
